The Leonid Film Awards, named for the meteor showers that will lights up the sky while the finalists light up the screen, will blaze their way on to the Canberra filmmaking scene in 2011.
The Leonids will also herald the start of the Tuggeranong Festival, so make sure that you or someone you know enters a film. There are some great prizes on offer.
With Leonid meteor shower filling the skies, and great films filling the screen, November 2011 will be full of stars at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre.

INFORMATION
In 2008 the Tuggeranong Arts Centre created the Young Independent Filmmakers Award to recognise talented young filmmakers in the Canberra area, giving them the opportunity to have their films screened publicly.
The Leonid Film Awards for young independent filmmakers is now in its fourth year and is open to entries from High Schools and College students. All genres of film are eligible and must be original works no more than eight minutes in length.
We are happy to announce that our valued sponsors will continue their involvement with the LEONID FILM AWARDS, including significant support from the University of Canberra, Tuggeranong Festival & the Tuggeranong Arts Centre.
PRIZES FOR COLLEGE STUDENT'S CATEGORY
1. $1,000 & a $500 scholarship. Both prizes donated by the University of Canberra
2. $250 donated by TAC & $500 scholarship by the University of Canberra
3. $500 scholarship donated by the University of Canberra
PRIZES FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT'S CATEGORY
1. $600 donated by the Tuggeranong Festival
2. $400 donated by the Tuggeranong Festival
3. $250 encouragement award donated by the Tuggeranong Arts Centre
