LEONID FILM AWARDS
Leonid Film Awards

Information

In 2008 Tuggeranong Arts Centre created the Young Independent Filmmakers Award to recognise talented young filmmakers in the Canberra area, giving them the opportunity to have their films screened publicly.

The Leonid Film Awards for young independent filmmakers is now in its third year and is open to entries from Secondary - Tertiary students. This year the awards include a new Open category for filmmakers 18+. All genre of film are eligible and must be original works no more than eight minutes in length.

We have secured significant support from the University of Canberra, offering students from colleges across Canberra a preliminary filmmaking workshop to build fundamental skills in film production in September.

The University of Canberra will also donate $1,000 to the winner of the Secondary students’ category. D’indigo blend broadcast media services will donate $500 to the winner of the Tertiary students’ category and Tuggeranong Arts Centre will give a $250 Encouragement Award in both categories.

In the new Open category the Tuggeranong Festival will donate $600 to the winner and $400 for technical achievement.
