NAIDOC 2008

IndigiGlass'08
Postcards From The Referendum
3-21 July
Officially opened by Annette Ellis (MP) Member for Canberra
Four artists from the Indigenous Textiles and Glass Artist's Group, Jenni Kemarre Martiniello, Lyndy Delian, Renee Smith and Belinda McDowell, reflect on the 1967 Referendum in glass. Arising from the first residency of Aboriginal artists at the Canberra Glassworks, this project included an exhibition of new works in Glass, a striking commemorative publication and an exquisite short film about the artist's journeys as they navigated their way through the new terrain of glass making.
After the exhibition concluded, 27 works from the exhibition were acquired by the National Museum of Australia to be part of its permanent collection on the 1967 Referendum.
