Tuggeranong Arts Centre and the leading lights of the Australian cabaret scene are banding together to help emerging cabaret artist find their voice.

Under the program, 20 lucky artists will have the opportunity to work with the who’s who of the Australian cabaret scene in a series of workshops at the Arts Centre from 14 – 28 August 2022.

Returning to her hometown, Queenie invites local cabaret artists to join her and a team of talented tutors who will be teaching participants how to write, perform and produce their own cabaret shows. 

The tutors will be announced shortly. Artists and the classes that are regularly taught as part of AMTA’s Cabaret Winter Workshop include:

  • Trevor Ashley: Masterclass: Find Your Fabulous Fan Base
  • Maude Davey: Masterclass: Directing Your Delicious Cabaret
  • Catherine Alcorn: Masterclass: Marvelous Marketing & Successful Social Media
  • Matt Gilbertson: Masterclass: Putting on a Show
  • Ali McGregor: Masterclass: Pitching Successfully to Festivals & Venues
  • Sarah Ward (aka Yana Alana): Masterclass: Cabaret, Circus, Vaudeville & Variety

The program is open to artists from any genre of live performance – singers, circus, comedians, burlesque, drag and any other artform not yet invented! The two-week-long workshop will culminate in a live performance in the TAC theatre on Sunday 28 August 2022, with shows at 5PM & 8PM. The program schedule can be downloaded here.


Online auditions are open from Friday 24 June to Friday 15 July. To apply, you will need to fill out an online registration form which can be found online here:

Upload a 2- 5 min video of yourself performing to YouTube or Vimeo. The video does not have to be created specifically for this application – if you have footage of yourself doing something onstage or in a previous performance – that is fine too – just make sure Queenie gets a good sense of your talent!

In addition to the Cabaret Winter Workshop and Performance, Queenie will present her most recent work developed in response to COVID. In her new show, Choose Your Own Adventure, Queenie serves up a banquet of entertainment. On the menu will be music with lashings of comedy and cabaret. You might want to add a ‘game of trivia’ chaser and a ‘bowl of chicken soup for the soul’ on the side. Whatever your tastes, you get to choose the night’s entertainment menu. Art will imitate life with all its uncertainty as this incomparable performer lets the audience decide what happens next.
