Now in its 22nd year, the Canberra Short Film Festival has earned a reputation for quality and respectability, and is recognised as one of Australia’s oldest and best film competitions. It attracts an audience from all over Australia and is known for selling out every session.
The CSFF represents the boundless talent that makes up Australia’s film industry, and exposes our guests to the best of short cinema from all over the world.
In 2017, the CSFF will run over five nights from September 13-17 at the following locations:
- Sunday 10th September – Sneak Preview session at Smith’s
- Tuesday 12th September – Documentary Screening at Dendy
- Wednesday 13th September – Dendy Cinemas
- Thursday 14th September – Belconnen Community Centre
- Friday 15th September – Tuggeranong Arts Centre
- Saturday 16th September – Smith’s Alternative
- Sunday 17th September – Dendy Cinemas
Tuggeranong Arts Centre is delighted to be partnering with the festival for the second year running, and invite you to join us on Friday 15th of September for a night of short films and live music.
As well as showcasing films from each of the 9 categories, Tuggeranong Arts Centre will screen a series of short films created during filmmaking workshops with local producer Marissa McDowell of Black & White Films.
The night will also feature a Q&A session with Vanessa Gazy. Vanessa is a young up and coming filmmaker who has had films at Sundance and BAFTA. Vanessa was recently selected for Endemol Shine Australia’s screenwriting initiative Smart for a Girl: ROAR, which will see her working with the producer of Offspring, Imogen Banks, to develop new television projects with a view to getting them into production. Vanessa’s short film Highway will also screen on the night.
The Q&A with Vanessa will be followed by a fast-paced action-packed program of fun, quirky and widely differing films from the following categories:
- 2-minute films,
- Music video,
- National, and
- Under 18’s.
