Tuggeranong Arts Centre’s Empire Global Art Award is open to artists and craftspeople who are 18 years and over and residents of Canberra or the Canberra region (including Queanbeyan, Braidwood, Goulburn, Yass, and Cooma). Works in any medium may be entered. All work must be original and completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited.
The Award has a $4000 cash prize and follows in a long tradition of supporting emerging and established artists.
The theme for the 2017 Award is taken from Mahatma Gandhi who said, ‘The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.’
Key Award dates
All artworks must be delivered to the Tuggeranong Arts Centre on Monday 31 July 2017 between 10am and 5pm. An exhibition of selected works will be on display in the Gallery for one month following the Official Opening and Awards Announcement on Thursday 3 August. Unsold works must be collected by midday on the Monday 4 September.

The Award presentation event
All artists will be invited to join TAC, our patron, partners and sponsors, award judges, and friends for a special exhibition opening and awards presentation on Thursday 3 August. Information about the Award presentation event in 2017 will be provided in coming months.
Partnering with the Arts Centre on this Award is Empire Global. Empire Global is a prominent Canberra development company with projects spanning 20 years. Recently, Empire Global have taken an active role in development the Tuggeranong Town Centre, including the major urban development project in Southquay precinct.Empire Global is also committed to the cultural development of Tuggeranong and delighted to be partnering with TAC on annual Art Award.
