When:Friday 1 November, 2019.
The “Fresh Faced Funk” Young Choreographers Initiative has being running every semester for over 10 years.
The project invites students from the Senior Guys and Masters classes to apply to create a new dance work. Participating Choreographers are allocated dancers from Fresh Funk’s Advanced classes.
The original pieces are rehearsed for 7 weeks during the semester and range from duos to large ensembles performing contemporary and hip-hop dance.
The young choreographers have full control over all the elements of their piece, from movement to lighting design and costumes.
This project provides an important platform for emerging artists to explore their creative ideas and create new work in a nurturing environment.
It is also a great opportunity for our advanced dancers to work with different choreographers and learn from their peers who are stepping into the role of leader and teacher for their allocated dancers.
It challenges, inspires and improves everyone involved, offering a fantastic showcase of interesting and relevant ideas in every piece.
