Fostering connections with regional arts activity and supporting emerging and mid-career artists, Tuggeranong Arts Centre has awarded exhibition prizes in Sculpture in the Paddock, Yass, since 2014.
Tuggeranong Arts Centre presents an exhibition by the 2018 recipient of our Sculpture in the Paddock Exhibition Award, Sian Watson.
Future Fables is an exhibition featuring bronze sculptures and drawings that Watson says reference our shared vulnerability with nature in this shifting landscape”.
In her work Watson fuses features of humans with animals that explore environmental and social change and the moral roles that animals and humans might play into the future.
Sian Watson is a Canberra based artist, she graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours (First Class) in 2015. She was a recipient of many prestigious art awards as part of the Emerging Artist Support Scheme including a public artwork commission.
Last year, Watson participated in exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, with her work being represented at Sydney Contemporary with M Contemporary and exhibited with Canberra’s Public Art Biennial, Contour 556. Watson has spent the last three months living in the United States while she showed work in Montana and Washington DC.
