Details:

Karri McPherson (b. 1995) is a contemporary abstract painter based in Canberra, ACT. Karri specialises in hard-edge geometric abstraction and her art practice spans various mediums including murals, studio work, public installations, and digital design. Within her studio practice, Karri uses geometry as a mechanism to influence the way that our urban spaces are experienced by recontextualising themes and ideas into eye-catching, immersive geometric artworks. ‘More Than Meets the Eye’ is Karri’s third solo exhibition where she’ll be further exploring the expansion of painting beyond the traditional two-dimensional canvas surface. This exhibition will showcase the dynamic complexities of contemporary art and the value of paint when the medium expands to encapsulate the gallery walls as part of the artwork. This quasi-immersive exhibition invites communities from a diversity of ages and backgrounds to experience Modern Art, whilst fostering new connections between people and the power of shape, form, and colour.

In early 2020, Karri completed a Bachelor of Creative Art (HONS) at the University of Southern Queensland where she successfully graduated with First Class Honours. Throughout the past five years of her practice, Karri has participated in over fifty group exhibitions in Australia and the United States, and her work is permanently held in private and public collections globally.
