No Boundaries
Painting with Parkinsons: No Boundries
Exhibition
Exhibition Showing: 10 March – 24 March 2023
Exhibition Statement:
Produced through an innovative art therapy program designed specifically for people living with Parkinson’s, these beautiful, individual artworks are created using a unique methodology that supports participants to become absorbed in their own work. The program is founded on the notion that occupational performance that contributes to social and societal participation is a determining factor for well-being, health and quality of life.
The structure used in each workshop is evidence-based and emphasises the process and the use of quality materials. Following an initial period of meditation, artists respond intuitively to music, spontaneously creating vibrantly coloured, gestural works on paper.
Benefits to participants include social, societal, emotional and psychological wellbeing, as well as improvement in physical capacity and reduction in tremor.
