The Schools Reconciliation Challenge is an annual art and writing program for primary and high school students across NSW and ACT, coordinated by Reconciliation NSW.
This year Reconciliation NSW are celebrating 10 years of engaging students and schools in reconciliation through the Schools Reconciliation Challenge.
The exhibition theme for 2019 is, Speaking and Listening from the Heart, which is about learning, sharing and growing together.
Listening to the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is at the heart of reconciliation.
It is also about connecting and sharing what is important to us as individuals, families, communities and as a country; this honest and authentic way of communicating helps us all to understand each other and initiate positive transformation and change.
Through the exploration of the theme, Speaking and Listening from the Heart, students have created art and writing by doing just that – listening and speaking from their hearts inspired by the voices, stories, cultures and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The program is facilitated through the Schools Reconciliation Challenge website. To find out more visit schoolsreconciliationchallenge.org.au
