When:Saturday 24 November, 11am
Tuggeranong Arts Center is delighted to be part of SouthFest, a brand new festival bringing life into the streets, lane ways and lake foreshore of the Tuggeranong Town Centre.
From 11am to 1pm on Saturday 24 November, the Arts Centre invites you to join artists Nathan J Lester and Rebecca Selleck in the Tuggeranong Gazebo area for a 2-hour sculpture workshop.
This interactive community sculpture is constructed from local urban rubble. In its initial form, it is a monument to the sprawling human habitats that have displaced countless ecosystems. During SouthFest, the community is invited to plant within its crevices flora that would have grown in the area before the waves of concrete and brick, as a small way of reclaiming a true sense of place.
I AM and I HOPE, a sculpture by Nathan J Lester, will represent the people of Tuggeranong community and their hopes for the future.
Contributors are asked to share something of themselves with one positive word and one hope for the future, which will all be joined to create large sculptures.
Come and help the artists complete their sculptural works!
No need to register, just turn up!
