Karen Lee is an emerging artist whose work is influenced aesthetically by her local environment of the Blue Mountains and Nepean River in NSW.
She is specifically interested in the colour and patterns in nature and the subject matter of the native flora and fauna that surrounds her.
Conceptually she is interested in history and memory and the remnants, scars and unseen traces left in spaces.
Karen aims to produce artworks that are vibrant and have an aesthetic beauty but are underpinned with ambiguous meaning and stories of the past.
Historical stories or personal stories, she loves the idea that past and present are inherently connected.
