On Saturday 25th of November, Tuggeranong Arts Centre will enliven the banks of Lake Tuggeranong with a day of fun and entertainment hosted by comedian Kevin Kropinyeri. Whatever Floats Your Horse will feature music, dance and activities for families, pets and the whole Tuggeranong community.
The event will give Tuggeranong locals and other visitors a chance to head down to the lakefront and enjoy a coffee or gelato and free entertainment by the water with our favourite Royal, The Queen herself.
Drawing inspiration from our 2017 theme ‘Animals,’ we will have activities for humans and their furry (or scaled, or feathered) friends alike. We will also be launching our community art project ‘The Horse Float of Ideas’ – which is currently seeing our old horse float transformed into a unique, relocatable, experimental art space by local artists and community groups.
WAKE UP AND GET ACTIVE
Tuggeranong Parkrun will be hosting a special “animal-themed” run around Lake Tuggeranong at 8am. Dress up in your favourite animal onesie or bring your dog for a dash around the lake. Walkers, prams, and dogs (one only) all welcome. Register at parkrun.com.au and bring your printed barcode.
At 9am, Fernwood Fitness will be hosting YOGA on the lawns outside the Arts Centre, followed by ZUMBA – an addictive dance workout – at 9.30am. ALL WELCOME.
The main stage will feature a non-stop line up of dance, music, comedy and more hosted by comedian Kevin Kropinyeri with help from the Canberra finalist of the Deadly Funny Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander comedy competition.

CORGI KNIGHTING by THE QUEEN
Bring your pets down to meet The Queen from 11am-1pm. The Queen will honour local deserving corgis (and other mutts) in an official knighting ceremony.
Proud pet owners wishing to have such an honour bestowed upon their pampered pooches will need to ensure they put their best paw forward in order to impress Her Majesty.
Does your dog bark up the wrong tree? Does your bird parrot information too candidly? Is your cat a bit of a prima donna? We’re looking for CANBERRA’S MOST ECCENTRIC PET!
Bring your pet down to the Arts Centre and see if they can take home our pageant crown + a voucher from Best Friends Pets Tuggeranong!
(Registrations on the day. Pets must be on a leash and are the responsibility of their owners.)
Rose Edwina Patterson – Secretary of Booralabar Country Organisation of Women, society lady, and authentic pre-feminist community figure.
Karen Viggers – Local veterinarian and contemporary fiction author.
Kevin Kropinyeri – Aboriginal Australian comedian and all-round funny man.

As well as a great line up of entertainment, there will be plenty of free activities for kids of all ages including; rock painting, mask making, hip hop dance, and a giant progressive story.
The Gecko Gang will also be on hand for face-painting and glitter tattoos.
FOOD + DRINK
Enjoy coffee, food and gelato by the lake. SlyFox will be serving coffee from 9am for the early birds. From 10am-2pm they’ll be joined by the Lions Club of Tuggeranong BBQ, Charlie Sala Thai and Briscola Italian Gelato.
Wander among our array of stalls to find out about Canberra’s premiere animal welfare organisations or pick up a Christmas gift from one of the local artists and craftspeople.
Roll up, roll up…to the Horse Float of Ideas.
Local artists have worked with community members to develop art installations which will entertain and intrigue.
Our tiny horse float is bursting with ideas ranging from Hello Possum! Boxes, and bee hotels, to masks for horsing around, recycled sculpture and a creature of questionable origins.
Creativity with a liberal dose of kitsch, all hands on.
