Details:

For the exhibition Jack, John and Kempsey, TAC commissioned two artists to create works depicting 92-year-old painter Jack Featherstone and his artistic practice.

Anna Georgia is an anthropological filmmaker who had never met Jack Featherstone. Her 35 minute film, Readiness of Mind, will be screening ahead of the artists talk, at 2pm.

Nigel Featherstone is an author and Jack’s son. Artist Katy Mutton collaborated with Nigel to digitise his piece, The Gift of a Father.

Join Karen Middleton in conversation with Nigel, Anna and Katy, as they reflect on their creative process. How do you capture the essence of a person? How do you portray someone with 92 years of life experiences – a painter, a dentist, a parent? Does the proximity of a father make the subject more or less difficult to depict than an unknown stranger? How does medium shape the way we see an individual?

Join us, for this facilitated Q&A, as the artists discuss these questions and more.

Free event, bookings essential.
