A NIGHT IN BUENOS AIRES

Known for sell-out performances, PC Tango is a surefire crowd-pleaser. Featuring tango legend and founder of TangoOz, Maggie Ferguson on the bandoneon, the ensemble will explore early and traditional works from the birthplace of tango, Buenos Aires, and the father of Nuevo Tango, Astor Piazzolla. Not the usual ‘Hollywood rose in the teeth style of Tango’ but the gritty, ‘knife in the boot’ style.

Launched by Charmian Gadd at the Crossroads Festival, The Phoenix Collective Quartet is a premier string quartet performing concerts in Sydney, Canberra, the Central Coast and regional NSW. Its members come from the ranks of national and international orchestras such as Opera Australia Orchestra, Canberra Symphony, Sydney Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, Kammer Philharmonie Köln, Boston Symphony, and Academy of St Martin in the Fields.

Performing concerts by candlelight in Sydney and Canberra for international event company Fever, lunchtime concerts for the vulnerable and homeless at Wayside Chapel and featured string quartet at the 2022 National Folk Festival, PCQ are a dynamic and versatile ensemble.

The musicians:

Phoenix Collective began in 2018 as an initiative of well-known violinist, Dan Russell. A means to play high art music with exceptional musicians that share similar views musically, artistically and emotionally. In just a few years we are playing concerts in 3 cities, unique core venues and several additional projects, recordings, music society performances and workshop engagements. With two new live concert series just announced (Wayside Chapel & Tattersalls), Digital Sessions platform, and an ever-increasing recording and external project workload, Phoenix is rising. In December 2021, at the ACT Arts Awards, Phoenix Collective received a Canberra Critics’ Circle Award in Music.
